NCP, two other political parties get registration with EC

The Election Commission (EC) has approved the registration of National Citizen Party (NCP) and two other parties after verifying their submitted documents, officials confirmed today.

Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said, "We have found the documents of three parties to be in order — Bangladesh Socialist Party (Marxist), Bangladesh Aam Jonogon Party, and National Citizen Party (NCP)."

"The commission has decided that these three parties are eligible to be registered as political parties, and a public notice regarding them will be published in newspapers tomorrow," he added.

The EC introduced the political party registration system in 2008. In the latest round, 143 parties applied for registration, of which 22 underwent field-level verification. Based on their consistent political activities and participation in previous elections, the EC has decided to grant registration to three of them.
